Gary Lang NT Dance Company is the creative vision of the company's Artistic Director, Gary Lang. Gary is a dynamic dancer, stunning choreographer and performer, well known and respected both in the Northern Territory (NT) dance community and on a national level.

Gary Lang NT Dance Company is a premier contemporary dance company that is territory based and indigenous owned giving all Darwin based professional dancers, regardless of colour or cultural background, the opportunity to develop their talent and be part of the highest quality dance productions and performances delivered in the territory and touring nationally and internationally.

To build an indigenous owned, economically sustainable, contemporary dance company nurturing indigenous talent and bringing the highest quality dance performance experiences to the people of the Northern Territory and beyond.

Current Projects:

Goose Lagoon

An exquisite tale of love, magic and mysticism, set against the spectacular backdrop of Arnhem Land’s northern floodplains, as the drama of the annual goose hunting season unfolds.

When the first cracks of lightning strike to punctuate the start of the wet season and the geese take flight, the hunters arrive and a delicate young gosling is caught between two worlds; thwarted by evil and spurred on by love in a story resonant of Swan Lake.

Incorporating the traditional songlines of the Djapu clan with inspired puppetry by Erth Visual and Physical Theatre, an extraordinary dance emerges, weaving together ancient movement, story and cultural expression with contemporary performance.

The world premiere of Goose Lagoon is part of Darwin Festival 2010, August 13 - 15.
